Woman fights off attempted rapist in Bronx street


Police are looking for a man who allegedly punched a woman and attempted to rape her in the Bronx on Aug. 6.
A man punched a woman and then tried to rape her as
she got into her car in the South Bronx, police said Monday.
The 36-year-old victim told cops the man approached her from
 behind as she got into her car near the intersection of
Bathgate Ave. and E. 173rd St. about 8 a.m. on Sunday,
police said. He pushed her into the car, punched her in
the face and tried to rape her, she said.
When she started to fight back, the attacker ran off.
The victim suffered bruising to her face but was not
seriously injured. She refused medical attention at the
scene, officials said.
Police said the suspect is black, 5-foot-6 and wears his
hair in long dreadlocks. He about 25 years old and was
last seen wearing dark sneakers, black pants and a white,
black and gray shirt. He had a gray backpack.
