The Longest Time On Death Row


Brandon Jones served the longest time on death row between his conviction and execution. In October 1979, Brandon Jones murdered a man named Roger Tackett during a robbery of the Tenneco convenience store. Tackett was the manager of the Tenneco store.

Brandon Jones was originally going to be executed in 1989, but he wasresentencedd to death in 1997 because jurors bought a Bible into the court. Because of the re-trail and re-sentencing, Jones spent a total of 36 years on death row, making him the oldest person executed in Georgia. On February 3, 2016, he died by lethal injection.
